Before Visiting

Before visiting Kano General Hospital, please review reception hours, access information, and inquiry options.

Also, if your condition is urgent or if you need emergency care outside regular hours, please contact the hospital by phone.

Outpatient Visit Guide

For First-Time Visitors

Most health issues occur unexpectedly. For this reason, first-time visitors do not need an appointment. Please come directly to the reception desk and complete the first-visit registration procedure. First-visit appointments are not available.

Depending on the department, there may be days without consultation, or consultation may be suspended due to emergencies or other unavoidable circumstances. Please check the physician schedule in advance or call the hospital before visiting.

Kano General Hospital has 300 beds, which classifies it as a hospital with 200 beds or more under Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Notification No. 496. For general and specialty outpatient visits, patients are therefore asked to bring a referral letter from their primary doctor or local medical institution.

Patients who visit without a referral letter will be charged an additional 1,650 yen, tax included, as a special medical care fee in addition to the regular first-visit and medical fees.

For Returning Patients

To reduce waiting times and help patients receive care smoothly, follow-up visits are handled by appointment. When you visit, please consult your doctor in the examination room and receive an appointment slip for your next visit.

Follow-Up Appointments

Please speak with your doctor during your visit.

Changing or Canceling Appointments
  • Weekdays (Monday-Friday): 12:00-16:00
  • Information Desk: 06-6351-0868

Appointment changes are not available on Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, or during the year-end/New Year holidays. Same-day appointment changes cannot be accepted. If you arrive late, you may still be seen during consultation hours, but patients who arrive at their scheduled time will be given priority.

For Patients with a Referral Letter

If your primary doctor or local clinic determines that you need further detailed testing, surgery, chemotherapy, other advanced treatment, or hospitalization, our specialists will provide care. Please bring your referral letter, also known as a medical information form, when visiting.

Kano General Hospital also works with nearby medical institutions as an open system hospital using a registered-doctor system. If a registered doctor has contacted us in advance to refer you, please come on the designated day and bring your referral letter.

Requests for Outpatient Visitors

Health Insurance Card and Medical Certificates

Please bring your My Number health insurance card or standard health insurance card, your medication notebook, and any medical certificates you have, such as infant, elderly, or pollution-related medical certificates. Please present them at the first-visit or follow-up reception desk.

Important: Originals are required. Copies cannot be accepted. If you do not bring your insurance card or only bring a copy, the full cost of the visit will be charged to you.

Medical certificates must be presented together with your health insurance card. A medical certificate cannot be used on its own. Patients with appointments must also bring the original documents.

If Your Insurance Card, Medical Certificate, or Personal Details Change

If the details of your health insurance card or medical certificate have changed, or if you are no longer eligible to use them, please notify reception before your consultation. Please also notify reception if your address, telephone number, or other contact details have changed.

Patient Registration Card

If you have a patient registration card, please bring it with you whenever you visit. If you lose your card and need it reissued, a reissue fee of 550 yen, tax included, will be charged.

If You Do Not Have a PokeMed Account

PokeMed is an app service that can be used instead of a physical patient registration card. By using PokeMed, you do not need a physical card and do not need to worry about losing it. The service is free permanently.

For details, please see PokeMed.

If You Have a Referral Letter or Other Medical Documents

If you have a referral letter, also known as a medical information form, from another medical institution, please present it at reception. If you can also bring materials used by your previous doctor for diagnosis, such as X-ray films, they may help us understand your condition more quickly, reduce the burden of duplicate testing, and decide on an appropriate treatment plan.

Infection Prevention

Kano General Hospital works to prevent healthcare-associated infections. To help prevent infections in the hospital, we ask outpatient visitors to wear a mask and cooperate with infection prevention measures.

Pre-Visit Questionnaire

Since March 2020, Kano General Hospital has used Ubie, an AI-assisted pre-visit questionnaire system. You can complete the questionnaire easily from a computer, tablet, or your own smartphone, including from home before coming to the hospital. Please use it as a pre-visit questionnaire before your appointment.
