Life During Hospitalization

Life during hospitalization at Kano General Hospital includes bedside facilities, daily ward rules, mobile phone guidelines, and infection prevention measures. Please review the following information so that you can spend your hospital stay safely and comfortably.

Bedside Facilities and TV Cards

Use of Television, Refrigerator, Washing Machine, and Dryer

Televisions and refrigerators are available at each bedside. To use them, please purchase a TV card. You can also use the same TV card for the refrigerator and washing machine.

TV card vending machines are available on each ward. In addition, earphones are available in the dayrooms on the 2nd floor of the East Wing and on the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 8th floors of the West Wing.

TV Card Fee: ¥1,000 per Card

You may also operate washing machines and dryers with coins. However, if you need a receipt for a TV card purchase, please inform the staff station before buying the card. Please note that receipts cannot be issued after purchase.

TV Card Refunds

For TV card refunds, please submit your card at the Accounting Desk, Counter 4, on the 1st floor. Staff will confirm the remaining balance first. After confirmation, please use the TV card refund machine to complete the refund process.

Please note that unconfirmed cards cannot be refunded. Refunds are issued only in ¥10 and ¥100 coins.

Use of Personal Electrical Appliances

For Patients Using Personal Electrical Appliances

If you wish to use personal electrical appliances during hospitalization, please inform the Admission Desk, Counters 6 and 7, on the 1st floor. You may do so either when making your admission reservation or during your hospital stay.

  • Please note that personal televisions and refrigerators are not permitted.

Important Notices During Hospitalization

Important Notices and Requests During Your Stay

  1. Please observe hospital rules and follow the instructions of your physician and nursing staff at all times.
  2. Alcohol consumption, smoking, and possession of dangerous items, including fruit knives, are strictly prohibited during hospitalization.
  3. If you need to leave the hospital premises for an outing or overnight stay, please obtain prior permission from your attending physician and complete the outing or overnight stay register.
  4. Please avoid any behavior that may inconvenience other patients. We also ask visitors to follow this rule.
  5. Patients are responsible for the cost of any damage caused to hospital facilities or equipment.
  6. If your health insurance coverage changes during your hospital stay, please notify the Accounting Desk, Counters 4 and 5, on the 1st floor.
  7. Incoming telephone calls from outside the hospital can be forwarded until 9:00 PM.
  8. Lights-out time in patient rooms is 9:00 PM.
  9. Please keep valuables to a minimum and store them in the safety deposit box provided. The hospital assumes no responsibility for theft, loss, or damage.
  10. If you have any concerns or questions during hospitalization, please consult a nurse.
  11. Hospital staff respectfully decline all gratuities.

  • Please keep your phone on silent mode at all times inside the hospital.
  • Please do not use your phone while walking.
  • Please be considerate of other patients when using your phone.
  • Please refrain from using your phone after lights-out.

Hand Hygiene During Hospitalization

Hand Washing and Hand Sanitization

During your hospital stay, please practice hand hygiene before meals, after using the restroom, and when entering or leaving your room. You may wash your hands with soap and water or disinfect them with an alcohol-based sanitizer.

We also ask family members and visitors to cooperate with hand hygiene measures. These actions help protect patients from infection.
