Hospitalization Costs

This page explains hospitalization costs at Kano General Hospital, including the admission deposit, monthly billing schedule, invoice delivery, payment timing, and private room charges. First, please review the items below before admission. Then, if you have questions about your bill or payment method, please contact the Accounting Desk or speak with ward staff during your stay.

1. Admission Deposit

At the time of admission, we ask patients to pay an admission deposit of ¥70,000, regardless of the expected length of stay. However, some cases may follow different payment rules, such as self-pay admissions. In addition, recipients of public assistance do not need to pay this deposit.

  • Please keep the deposit receipt in a safe place, because you may need it when you settle your final hospitalization costs.
  • If a patient has not paid the deposit and cannot settle the full bill at discharge, the patient must make a partial payment before leaving the hospital.
  • If you need to confirm payment details before admission, please ask the hospital staff in advance.

2. Billing for Hospitalization Costs

We calculate hospitalization costs once a month. Specifically, each monthly invoice covers charges from the 1st through the last day of the month. After that, the hospital usually delivers the invoice around the 15th of the following month.

  • Charges from the 1st through the last day of the month are usually billed around the 15th of the following month.
  • Because treatment, medication, tests, rehabilitation, meals, and room charges may vary by patient, the final amount may differ depending on the details of care.
  • If you stay across multiple months, please expect monthly invoices during your hospitalization.

3. Invoices

Hospital staff will bring the invoice to your room. Please pay at the Accounting Desk on the 1st floor, Windows (4) and (5), on the same day you receive the invoice. Also, if you would like to discuss the delivery of invoices or payment methods, please let us know as early as possible.

  • If you have a preferred invoice delivery method, please tell ward staff.
  • If a family member will handle payment on behalf of the patient, please confirm the payment timing with the ward staff or Accounting Desk.
  • For general information about Japan’s medical and health care system, please refer to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

4. Room Rate Differences

We offer shared rooms and private rooms. Shared rooms accommodate four patients, and they do not require an additional room charge. On the other hand, private rooms require a daily room charge. Therefore, please check the private room rates below before requesting a private room.

Standard Private Room
¥17,600 (tax included)
Special Private Room
¥38,500 (tax included)
Premium Special Private Room
¥55,000 (tax included)
  • Private room charges apply on a per-day basis.
  • The hospital counts one day from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
  • For example, if a patient enters the hospital at 9:45 PM and leaves at 10:00 AM the following day, the hospital charges two days of private room fees.
  • In addition, private room availability may change depending on ward conditions on the day of admission.

5. Payment Notes

Please complete payment promptly after you receive your invoice. Also, please contact the Accounting Desk if you have questions about the amount, payment timing, or settlement at discharge. As a result, staff can check your situation and guide you through the next step more smoothly.

  • Please bring your invoice when you visit the Accounting Desk.
  • Please ask staff in advance if you expect someone other than the patient to make payment.
  • Please review your hospitalization costs before discharge so that you can complete the discharge process without delay.
