Frequently Asked Questions (Click to expand)

Q1. How do I make a reservation?

A. Reservations are accepted by phone on weekdays between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

Q2. Is parking available?

A. A multi-story car park is available. Please note that there are size restrictions on vehicles that can enter. For details, please refer to the Access page.
If you plan to use the car park, please contact us in advance and we will assist you.

Q3. Can I have the gastroscopy performed under sedation (using a sedative to put me to sleep)?

A. At our center, gastroscopy is performed using local anesthesia applied to the nose or throat while the patient remains conscious.
We do not offer gastroscopy under sedation.

Q4. What is the difference between gastroscopy and an upper GI series (barium swallow)?

A. Gastroscopy allows direct observation of the gastric mucosa, enabling the detection of lesions in the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum.
If necessary, a tissue biopsy of the gastric mucosa can also be performed. An upper GI series (barium swallow) involves spreading barium thinly inside the stomach and examining its shape and surface irregularities using X-ray.

The following individuals are not eligible for an upper GI series (barium swallow):
① Those who are pregnant or may be pregnant (Please contact us if you are breastfeeding).
② Those with a history of hypersensitivity to barium preparations.
③ Those with a history of intestinal obstruction.
④ Those who have had a colorectal polyp removed within the past 2 months.
⑤ Those who have undergone abdominal or orthopedic surgery, or experienced a myocardial infarction or cerebral infarction within the past year.
⑥ Those on fluid restrictions due to kidney disease (dialysis) or similar conditions.
⑦ Those who have difficulty maintaining a standing position independently or holding the handrail of the imaging table.
⑧ Those weighing 120 kg or more.
⑨ There may be cases where the examination cannot be performed depending on your condition on the day or responses to the health questionnaire.

Q5. Is the gastroscopy performed through the mouth?

A. You may choose either nasal or oral insertion.

Q6. Are there any weight restrictions?

A. Individuals weighing 120 kg or more may not be able to undergo certain examinations.

Q7. Can I bring my child with me?

A. We do not have facilities available for childcare.

Q8. How long does it take to receive the examination report?

A. Reports will be mailed to you within 2 to 3 weeks.

Q9. Is payment at the counter accepted by cash only?

A. Credit cards are also accepted.
(JCB, VISA, MASTERCARD)

Q10. What should I do if I have questions after receiving my report by mail?

A. Please contact us by email or phone. Once we have confirmed your identity, we will be happy to answer your questions.

Q11. What happens if an abnormality is found in my results?

A. In cases requiring urgent attention, we will arrange for you to be seen immediately.
If you would like a referral letter, we will prepare one and provide it to you.

Q12. What is the difference between a head CT and a brain MRI?

A. Both CT and MRI produce cross-sectional images. CT uses X-rays, while MRI uses a powerful magnet and radio waves — meaning there is no radiation exposure with MRI. CT is particularly effective for detecting hemorrhagic lesions, such as trauma, cerebral hemorrhage, and subarachnoid hemorrhage. MRI is better suited for detecting tumors, degenerative diseases, subacute and chronic cerebrovascular disorders (stroke), and micro-infarctions.

Important notes regarding MRI
The following individuals are not eligible for MRI examination at our hospital:
● Those with a cardiac pacemaker, stimulation electrodes, cochlear implant, or similar device
● Those who are pregnant or may be pregnant

The following individuals may not be eligible for MRI examination at our hospital:
● Those with metal implants in the body, such as cerebral aneurysm clips or artificial joints
● Those with claustrophobia or difficulty in enclosed spaces
● Those unable to remain in the same position for an extended period

Brain Dock MRI/MRA results will be finalized after review by a specialist physician.

Q13. Can I have my check-up while menstruating?

A. For the stool examination, a sample collected before or after your period can be used.
For the urine examination, if the sample was collected within one week of your visit, it is possible to bring it in on the day of your appointment.
For those scheduled for cervical cytology, the examination can be performed as long as bleeding is not heavy.

Q14. Should I choose mammography or breast ultrasound for breast cancer screening?

A. For women aged 40 and over, we recommend mammography, which can detect fine calcifications and small lumps that are difficult to feel — both early signs of breast cancer.
For younger women or those with high breast density (dense breasts), lumps may be harder to detect with mammography, so breast ultrasound is recommended.
Undergoing both examinations leads to even earlier detection.
(Mammography is not available for those who have had breast augmentation surgery, are fitted with a pacemaker, or have a VP shunt.)

Q15. Can I have a check-up if I am pregnant or think I may be pregnant?

A. Examinations involving radiation (chest X-ray, upper GI series, mammography, head MRI/CT) cannot be performed.
