Notice of AMAT Disaster Relief Team Departure for Kumamoto Earthquake Response

AMAT Disaster Relief Team members from Kano General Hospital departed for Kumamoto yesterday to provide medical support to areas severely affected by the Kumamoto earthquake. The team will work in cooperation with local medical institutions and related organizations to support people affected by the disaster.

Medical Support in the Affected Areas

During this deployment, the AMAT Disaster Relief Team will primarily provide medical relief support to affected medical institutions and assist with patient transport. Through these activities, the team will help supplement the local healthcare system and support the continuation of medical services in the affected areas.

In disaster-affected areas, medical institutions may face increased demand while also dealing with limited personnel, equipment, and transportation resources. The team will respond to local needs while coordinating closely with healthcare professionals and other organizations working in the area.

The safety and health of those affected by the earthquake remain our highest priority. Our team will carry out its activities carefully while assessing conditions in the affected areas and providing the medical assistance required at each location.

What Is AMAT?

AMAT stands for All Japan Hospital Medical Assistance Team. AMAT is a medical support team consisting of personnel who have received specialized disaster medical training.

AMAT teams provide medical relief activities from the acute phase through the subacute phase of a disaster. Their activities may include supporting affected medical institutions, assisting with patient transportation, and providing medical care while taking into consideration people who may require additional assistance during a disaster.

Several staff members at Kano General Hospital have completed AMAT training so that they can respond when medical assistance is required during a disaster. This preparation helps ensure that trained personnel can participate in coordinated medical support activities when needed.

Working Together to Support Recovery

The AMAT Disaster Relief Team will continue to cooperate with relevant organizations while carrying out medical support activities in Kumamoto. The team will respond to changing conditions in the affected areas and provide assistance based on local medical needs.

Through this deployment, Kano General Hospital will contribute to supporting medical institutions, patients, and communities affected by the earthquake.
