Publication of a Paper on Visual Information Initiatives

announcements

Plastic Surgery at Kano General Hospital has introduced clearer visual materials to help patients and local medical institutions understand the scope of its clinical services. These materials include original illustrations created by Radiological Technologist Ryutaro Sugimoto. The department has used them to present medical information in a more accessible and understandable format.

A paper examining these initiatives and their effects has now been published. The paper was written by Dr. Kitaguchi of the Department of Plastic Surgery and describes the department’s work to improve visual information in its public relations activities.

Plastic Surgery Visual Information Initiative

The initiative began with the goal of explaining the department’s clinical services more clearly. Medical information can be difficult to understand through text alone. Therefore, the department enhanced its informational materials with illustrations that support the written explanations.

These visual materials were prepared so that both patients and local medical institutions could gain a clearer understanding of the department’s work. The illustrations created by Radiological Technologist Ryutaro Sugimoto form an important part of this approach.

The department also used the illustrations on its website. By combining written information with visual guidance, the webpage presents the scope of the department’s clinical services in an accessible format.

Publication of the Plastic Surgery Paper

Dr. Kitaguchi summarized the initiative and its effects in a paper titled “Initiatives and Effects of Enhancing Visual Information in Public Relations Activities at a Community Hospital.” The paper was published in the June 2026 issue, Volume 69, of Plastic Surgery.

Plastic Surgery is a specialized journal covering clinical and research knowledge in plastic and reconstructive surgery. The journal has a history of approximately 68 years since its first publication and presents a broad range of knowledge from the field.

The publication introduces the hospital’s efforts to communicate clinical information through both written explanations and illustrations. It also summarizes the effects of enhancing visual information as part of public relations activities at a community hospital.

Clear Information for Patients and Medical Institutions

Kano General Hospital will continue working to provide clear and accessible information. Our goal is to help patients understand the information they need and visit the hospital with confidence. We also aim to communicate the department’s clinical services clearly to local medical institutions.

The illustrations discussed in the published paper are used on the Department of Plastic Surgery webpage. Please visit the page to view the department’s information and visual materials.

Readers can also use PubMed, an external medical literature database, to search for medical research publications.
