Medical Safety Management Department<\/h2>\n

Medical Safety is an important part of patient-centered care at Kano General Hospital. Based on our fundamental philosophy, “Practicing Patient-Centered Medicine<\/strong>,” we work to help patients receive care with peace of mind.<\/p>\n

To support this goal, we continuously enhance safety, prevent medical accidents, and reduce the risk of recurrence. In addition, we review reports, improve systems, and share safety information across the hospital.<\/p>\n

Medical Safety Guidelines<\/h3>\n

  1. Human Error Prevention:<\/strong> We create environments and systems designed to prevent human errors from developing into harm.<\/li>\n
  2. Near-Miss Reporting:<\/strong> All staff members report accidents and near-miss experiences. As a result, we can examine countermeasures and improve situation handling.<\/li>\n
  3. Rapid Response:<\/strong> In the event of an accident, we provide immediate medical care and establish a rapid reporting system.<\/li>\n
  4. Root Cause Analysis:<\/strong> We focus on “what” and “why” to identify systemic factors and prevent recurrence. Therefore, we do not focus only on individual responsibility.<\/li>\n
  5. Informed Consent:<\/strong> We foster a safety culture through thorough explanations and obtaining patient consent before treatment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n

    Medical Safety Structure<\/h3>\n

    The Medical Safety Management Committee includes risk managers from each department. The committee coordinates organized efforts to promote medical safety activities across the hospital.<\/p>\n

    Medical Safety Management Office<\/h3>\n

    The Medical Safety Management Office was established in December 2012. It is led by a dedicated medical safety manager, who is a nurse. Also, the manager collaborates with safety officers for medical devices and pharmaceuticals to prevent clinical accidents.<\/p>\n
